Dr. Zach Lasker


Zach has enjoyed a wonderful career in the fields of education, camp, and community organizing. Zach spent a combined total of 22 years at Camp Ramah in California, including 10 years as the camp director. He also served as the Executive Director of Pico Union Project, a multi-faith and cultural center, and director of professional learning programs at the Davidson Graduate School of Education of the Jewish Theological Seminary. Zach earned his doctorate in education leadership at UCLA and a Master’s in Education from the American Jewish University. A certified yoga instructor, Zach teaches workshops to educators and leaders using yoga as a model for instruction and engagement.

Rose Levenson Assistant Director

Rose has been involved in various camps for over a decade, and comes to Camp Bob Waldorf from the sweet town of Hershey, Pennsylvania! Most recently, Rose is grateful to have worked for six summers at URJ Crane Lake Camp as both a counselor and Unit Head. Rose graduated with an MBA in Non-Profit Management and an MA in Jewish Professional Leadership from Brandeis University as a Wexner Graduate Fellow/Davidson Scholar. She is proud to be an alumna of Mount Holyoke College, where she earned her BA in Psychology and Education. As an undergraduate, she was a member of the pioneer cohort of the Nachshon Project. Rose enjoys re-reading Harry Potter books, and teaching indoor cycling and Zumba classes.

Emily Lassman Assistant Director Program and Rentals Camp Bob Waldorf

Emily Lassman

Assistant Director – Program & Rentals

Emily has been part of the Camp Bob Waldorf family since 2016 as a Head Counselor and then CIT Director. As the Assistant Director of Programs & Rentals, she oversees all activities, logistics, and camp programming in addition to camp leasing. Before joining Camp Bob Waldorf, Emily attended Camp Mountain Chai and returned as a CIT and counselor for five summers. She has a degree in Social Welfare and Public Policy from UC Berkeley.

When she’s not at camp, you can most likely find her at Starbucks maintaining her caffeine dependency or hanging out with her dogs.

Amalia Shifriss Camper and-Community Outreach Director

Camper & Community Outreach Director

Amalia joined Camp Bob Waldorf after four and half years at ORT America, a nonprofit focused on education. She got her BA in Theatre and Jewish Studies from Indiana University, and will earn a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from UCLA in June 2018. She loves being a Big Sister with JBBBSLA, and in her free time likes pilates, hiking, traveling, reading and cooking. Favorite Breakfast Food: scrambled eggs with a side of avocado.

Alba Azru Registrar Camp Bob Waldorf

Alba Azru


Alba has a passion for working at camp. She began her journey at Camp Bob Waldorf in 2002 and worked for another non-profit camp for 6 years prior where her devotion for “The Happy Campers Business” was born.  Alba immigrated from Guatemala City after she finished her AA Business Degree and made Los Angeles her new home. She loves frogs of all shapes and colors.

Jessica Flores

Assistant Camp Registrar

Jes recently joined the year-round team and serves as a Head Counselor during the summer. She has six years of experience with non-profit organizations for at-risk youth in the Los Angeles area and is pursuing a degree in Child Development. Jes dedicates time throughout the year to volunteer at soup kitchens, programs for students with special needs, and shelters in her community. Outside of work she practices kickboxing, participates in art walks, and collects anything having to do with superheroes!

She is a huge advocate for all-day breakfast.

Paul Iskin Inclusion Coordinator Camp Bob Waldorf

Inclusion Coordinator

Paul has worked with Camp Bob Waldorf since the summer of 2017, in addition to his role as a Match Support Specialist for Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles. Paul was a camper at Camp Bob Waldorf for several years and participated in the Witherbee Wilderness program in his teens. He has a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Paul is passionate about facilitating youth development through mentorship, community building and inclusion.

Xenia Cabrera Registration Assistant Camp Bob Waldorf

Xenia Cabrera

Registration Assistant

Xenia has been a part of our camp community for over 10 years, beginning as a camper at age 12. She started on staff as a counselor and is now a year-round member of the team. Xenia is a full-time student pursuing a career in education.  She has a collection of colored pens and stationary, enjoys listening to foreign music and learning new languages.
